Getting Around
The travelers of Scarsdale use I-287 and I-87 for convenient travel. Closest to Scarsdale, I-87 runs east to west and I-287 runs north to south.
Less than 10 miles from Scarsdale are Eastchester, New Rochelle, White Plains, and Mamaroneck. New York City is approximately 23 miles from Scarsdale. Hicksville is roughly 21 miles away.

The major airports serving the air travelers of Scarsdale include JFK International Airport, La Guardia International Airport, Newark International Airport-New Jersey, and Westchester County Airport. The two New York International Airports are roughly 25 miles from Scarsdale, and Newark International is a little less than 30 miles away.

Westchester County has many excellent colleges and universities such as Iona College, Mercy College, Suny Westchester Community College, The College of New Rochelle, and Pace University. Saxon Woods Park is settled on roughly 700 acres of land. The park offers recreational facilities including a picnic area, 18 hole miniature golf course, and swimming pool. The Saxon Woods Park has a playground for the children and also accessible to the disabled.
The Saxon Woods Golf Course in Scarsdale was acquired in 1925. The Saxon Woods course is settled on 700 acres of well maintained greens and rolling landscape. The Saxon Woods Golf Course was designed by architect Tom Winton and opened to the public around 1931. The golf course offers a pro shop, lessons, a driving range, a practice green and a restaurant.
In addition, there are several excellent golf courses within a short driving distance including the Mosholu Golf Course, Dunwoodie Golf Course, Bonnie Briar Country Club, and Quaker Ridge Golf Club. Each golfing facility has charming scenery, pleasant greens, and a relaxing atmosphere for an enjoyable game of golf.
The Weinberg Nature Center is a ten-acre sanctuary that is home to numerous varieties of birds, animals, bees, and even people. There is a fruit orchard, swamp, meadow, and numerous woodlots. There are trails for strolling and an 8-mile trail for hiking all the way to the Binebrook Ball Park. There are various special events and programs of all ages. The Weinberg Nature Center is a place for education and family fun.
The Ridge Road Park in Scarsdale is a 170 acre park that provides ball fields, playgrounds, three pavilions, and picnicking facilities for a relaxing day at the park.

The singer and actress Liza Minelli, daughter of Judy Garland, lived in Scarsdale and attended Scarsdale High School.
Singer and wife of John Lennon, Yoko Ono, moved to Scarsdale in the early 1950’s with her family.
After the 1979 publication of The Complete Scarsdale Medical Diet by Scarsdale physician Dr. Herman Tarnower and Samm Baker, the name “Scarsdale” became very familiar to the public.
